The Office of AIDS Programs and Policy (OAPP) is pleased to offer the 2006 HIV L.A. Consumer Directory: A Comprehensive Directory to HIV/AIDS Services in Los Angeles County and is proud to be a partner with AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) in serving people living with HIV/AIDS and persons at risk for HIV infection in Los Angeles County. This is the fourth edition of the HIV L.A. Consumer Directory and it remains a valuable tool for people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS infection. This is the first edition to incorporate English and Spanish language in the same publication and is intended to make the directory more accessible and user friendly. Los Angeles County is home to approximately 59,000 people living with HIV/AIDS, and has hundreds of service providers dedicated to helping those in need of services. HIV L.A. includes more than 1,500 distinct listings of services across 33 different service categories, including Medical Resources, Support Groups, Drug Treatment, Women’s Services, Prevention Education, HIV/AIDS Testing and Youth Assistance, among dozens more. The HIV L.A. print directory is published annually and the corresponding website, www.hivla.org, is updated regularly. The website allows users to search for information in a variety of ways, including by zip code, by region, and by service category. In addition to the printed directory and the website, a toll-free hotline, (866) 772-2365, for clients and service providers, is available to answer questions about services, benefits, and the directory. In the spirit of partnership and responsiveness, I hope that consumers of this directory will provide suggestions to APLA for making this resource as complete and useful as possible. For your convenience, a survey is available online. Please take this opportunity to provide feedback by taking a few moments to complete the survey. As part of OAPP’s mission to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and effectively target services for persons affected by the disease, I thank the consumers of this directory for partnering with us to access essential prevention and care services in order to improve the overall well-being of Los Angeles County residents. Lastly, I would like to recognize APLA for their leadership and contributions in the struggle against HIV/AIDS, and more specifically, recognize their exceptional work in producing this directory. Very truly yours,
