HELP - How to Use HIVLA.org

HIVLA is designed to be an easily searchable database of HIV/AIDS service providers in Los Angeles County.

To conduct a search:

1. Select a Service Category

2. Select a Service Area (SPA)*

3. Click on the "Go" button.

Context-sensitive help is available for each of the three steps.

The Search results will display in a new window, with a maximum of ten service providers listed per page. If the query returns more than ten service providers, the navigation bar at the top of the Search results page will display the Field "Show Next 10 results..."

* Note: The Service Areas in this database correspond to the Service Planning Areas or SPAs developed by the County of Los Angeles Departments of Planning and Health Services.

STEP ONE - Select a Service Category

Select a Category of Service from the list. If the Service Category you seek is not available in your Service Area, select Show ALL Service Areas in Step One, and the Service Category you seek in Step Two.

Use the scroll bar to the right of the list to view the complete list.

The Category of Service list is sorted alphabetically.

Use the Glossary to view a more complete description of the Service Categories.

STEP TWO - Select a Service Area

There are eight Service Areas (SPAs) in Los Angeles County:

  1. Antelope Valley
  2. San Fernando Valley
  3. San Gabriel Valley
  4. Metro
  5. West
  6. South
  7. East
  8. South Bay

View Service Area map

On the Search page, select a Service Area from either the Service Areas list or from the Service Area map. To see the map, click on "Show Map" next to the Service Areas list in Step Two on the Search page. Your Service Area is where you (the client) lives.

If the Service Area you selected gives too few results, try selecting "SHOW ALL Service Areas" in Step Two. This will bring up a list of all Service Providers in Los Angeles County that provide the Category of Service that was selected.

STEP THREE - GO!

If your Search did not return any results, or too few results, try selecting "All Service Areas" in Step One.

When you click on the Go! button, the results of your query will display in a new window. The window will include the Names of the Agencies, Program Descriptions, Addresses and Contact information, a website if they have one, and other useful information. Prior to traveling it is always a good idea to call the Agency first.
